Details
The City of Winnipeg is changing the existing combined sewer system in order to alleviate basement flooding and reduce the number of combined sewer overflows from the Mission and Roland area.
The Mission and Roland Conceptual Study was completed with the 2019 Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Master Plan. The study determined that the current level of service (LOS) for the district’s combined sewer is lower than a five-year return period design storm.
The 2019 conceptual study proposed complete sewer separation in the Mission sewer district and various CSO control projects (i.e. latent storage, in-inline storage and floatable management) be incorporated into the Roland sewer district to improve LOS. The proposed sewer work is currently undergoing the Preliminary Design phase and the number of construction contracts has yet to be determined. The solutions for this project continue to be reviewed and are subject to change.
Green Infrastructure and real time control opportunities will be reviewed and evaluated within each district through the preliminary design process.
Map
As the project develops, the map will be updated to show current, future, and completed work in the district.
