Details
The City of Winnipeg is changing the existing combined sewer system in order to alleviate basement flooding and reduce the number of combined sewer overflows from the Cockburn East area.
The Cockburn East Combined Sewer Relief Works Conceptual Design Report was completed in 2010. The study determined that the current level of service (LOS) for the district’s combined sewer was lower than the two-year return period design storm, which means that the required LOS protection is not being met.
Construction of new land drainage sewers (LDS) in the Cockburn East sewer district will convey wet weather in a new land drainage system, improving the LOS. The proposed sewer work is currently undergoing the Preliminary Design phase and the number of construction contracts has yet to be determined.
Green infrastructure and real-time control opportunities will be reviewed and evaluated within each district through the preliminary design process.
Map
As the project develops, the map will be updated to show current, future, and completed work in the district.
