Activity terms and conditions

Important Information

  • Transfers and withdrawals can be completed by calling 311 or in person at an indoor recreation facility.
  • Please avoid attending programs if you are feeling unwell.
  • Programming is subject to change in accordance with potential COVID-19 impacts.
  • The Program Withdraw Fee is subject to change.

Transfers:

  • Same day transfers for facility admissions activities will not be allowed.

Activity Cancellations:

  • Activities are subject to change.
  • You will receive a full refund if we have to cancel an activity for any reason: insufficient registration, facility/instructor not available, inclement weather, etc.
  • If the activity has already started, your refund will be prorated based on the number of classes already held.
  • Your refund will not be subject to the Program Withdrawal Fee.
  • Outdoor activity cancellations will be posted to winnipeg.ca/cms/recreation after 9:00 a.m. each day, and are available by calling 311. An outdoor activity may be cancelled throughout the day if any of the following conditions arise:
    • The weather turns to thundershowers during the day.
    • Lightning and/or thunder are present.
    • Access to a phone for emergencies, first aid kit or washroom facilities are not available.

Refunds:

  • Refunds will be automatically processed as a credit on account, unless otherwise requested.
  • Upon request for refund in lieu of a credit, the method of refund is determined by original payment.

Learn to Swim

6 to 10 Week Sessions

  • New registrations and transfers into an activity are accepted up to the date and start time of the 3rd class.
  • Transfers out of an activity are accepted up to the day prior to the 3rd class.
  • Withdrawals are accepted and eligible for a pro-rated refund up to the day prior to the 3rd class. The Program Withdrawal Fee will apply.

1 to 5 Week Sessions or Condensed 5 Class Sessions

  • New registrations and transfers into an activity are accepted up to the date and start time of the 2nd class.
  • Transfers out of an activity are accepted up to the day prior to the 2nd class.
  • Withdrawals are accepted and eligible for a pro-rated refund up to the day prior to the 2nd class. The Program Withdrawal Fee will apply.

Learn to Skate

  • New registrations and transfers into an activity are accepted up to the date and start time of the 3rd class.
  • Transfers out of an activity are accepted up to the day prior to the 3rd class.
  • Withdrawals are accepted and eligible for a pro-rated refund up to the day prior to the 3rd class. The Program Withdrawal Fee will apply.

Leadership

  • New registrations and transfers into an activity are accepted up to the start date and time of the 1st class.
  • Transfers out of an activity are accepted up to 7 days prior to the start date of the activity.
  • Withdrawals are accepted and eligible for a refund up to 7 days prior to the start date of the activity. No refunds will be issued with less than 7 days' notice. The Program Withdrawal Fee will apply.

Activities 3 Days or Less in Duration

  • New registrations and transfers into an activity are accepted up to the date and start time of the 1st class.
  • Transfers out of an activity are accepted up to 7 days prior to the start date of the activity.
  • Withdrawals are accepted and eligible for a refund up to 7 days prior to the start date of the activity. No refunds will be issued with less than 7 days' notice. The Program Withdrawal Fee will apply.

Packages

  • Cancellations or amendments must be received a minimum of 14 days prior to the date of the event. No refunds will be issued with less than 14 days' notice. The Program Withdraw Fee is subject to change.
  • Failure to observe these deadlines will result in loss of the full cost of the party package.

All Other Activities

  • New registrations and transfers into an activity are accepted any time (pro-rated) at the discretion of the activity supervisor.
  • Withdrawals are accepted and eligible for a pro-rated refund up to the day prior to the 3rd class. The Program Withdrawal Fee will apply.

Customer code of conduct

Everyone has the right to a safe and respectful environment. Inappropriate or unlawful behaviour is not tolerated in City of Winnipeg facilities or programs.

Our goal is to provide a safe, respectful, welcoming, and inclusive environment where customers and participants can thrive.

Expectations

Every customer will:

  • Respect personal safety and boundaries
  • Maintain a respectful environment, free of:
    • Racism
    • Discrimination
    • Harassment
    • Disruptive conflict
    • Violence
  • Refrain from engaging in misconduct of a sexual, physical, or verbal nature
  • Immediately report any inappropriate or unlawful behavior to an employee on duty

Consequences

Customers will be asked to leave if:

  • They choose not to follow the code of conduct, or 
  • They do not change their behaviour when asked

Other consequences may include:

  • Suspension of service privileges
  • Banning from City of Winnipeg properties
  • Legal charges

Examples of inappropriate conduct

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Refusal to follow facility rules
  • Refusal to follow employee's request to adhere to rules
  • Misuse of any facility space, including washrooms 
  • Intentional interference with:
    • Another customer's use and enjoyment of the facility or program
    • The ability of employees to perform their duties
  • Any criminal activity
  • Inappropriate conduct involving children 

For privacy reasons, the City of Winnipeg does not:

  • Disclose personal information
  • Mediate between parties in cases of patron inappropriate behavior

The City of Winnipeg partners with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P). All disclosures, allegations or suspicions of sexual, unlawful, or inappropriate behavior by a patron in our recreation facilities are taken seriously and followed up on.

Code de conduite de la clientele

Tout le monde a droit à un environnement sécuritaire et respectueux. Les comportements inappropriés ou illégaux ne sont pas tolérés dans les installations ou lors des programmes de la Ville de Winnipeg.

  • signaler immédiatement tout comportement inapproprié ou illégal au personnel de service.

Conséquences

On demandera aux membres de la clientèle de quitter s’ils :

  • choisissent de ne pas suivre le code de conduite;
  • ne modifient pas leur comportement lorsqu’on le leur demande.

D’autres conséquences peuvent inclure :

  • l’interruption de l’accès aux services;
  • l’interdiction d’accéder aux propriétés de la Ville de Winnipeg;
  • des sanctions juridiques.

Exemples de conduite inappropriée

La conduite inappropriée comprend notamment :

  • le refus de suivre les règles de l’installation;
  • le refus de respecter la demande du personnel de suivre les règles;
  • la mauvaise utilisation d’une partie de l’installation, y compris les toilettes;
  • la perturbation intentionnelle de :
    • la capacité d’une autre personne de se servir ou de jouir de l’installation ou du programme;
    • la capacité du personnel d’accomplir ses fonctions;
  • toute activité criminelle;
  • toute conduite inappropriée impliquant des enfants.

Pour des raisons de confidentialité, la Ville de Winnipeg :

  • ne communique pas vos renseignements personnels;
  • ne sert pas d’intermédiaire entre les parties impliquées en cas de comportement inapproprié d’un membre de la clientèle.
